Die Republik Irland ist ein Inselstaat in Europa und grenzt im Norden an die Provinz Nordirland. Irland besteht aus einem an Seen und Mooren reichen, ausgedehnten zentralen Tiefland, das von Bergländern umrahmt wird und nur an der Ostküste bei Dublin bis an die Irische See heranreicht. Die beeindruckende Architektur von Dublin reicht von mittelalterlichen bis ganz modernen Stilrichtungen, die sich gut auf Ansichtskarten widerspiegeln. Dublin ist eine Gründung der Wikinger und wichtiger Ausgangspunkt der Christianisierung von Europa.
