Im Landkreis Teltow-Fläming im Bundesland Brandenburg ist die Stadt Baruth angesiedelt. Auf das Jahr 1234 ist die erste urkundliche Erwähnung datiert, danach ging Baruth in den Besitz von Sachsens Ernestinischen Herzögen. Reichsgraf Otto zu Solms-Sonnenwalde erwarb Baruth 1596, welches 1616 das Magdeburger Stadtrecht erhielt. 1716 entstand der Ortsteil Glashütte als Glasmachersiedlung, diese ist heute noch fast unberührt und steht seit 1983 unter Denkmalschutz. Die Einstellung der Glasproduktion erfolgte im Jahr 1980. Heute ist Glashütte ein lebendiges Museumsdorf. Außerdem sehenswert in Baruth sind die Stadtkirche Sankt Sebastian, das Schloss Baruth – erbaut im 17. Jahrhundert und die Friedensmühle im Ortsteil Petkus. Sammler finden verschieden Ansichten von Baruth auf alten Postkarten.
